The Buzz

Lifecore R100 Console

UPDATE: The LifeCore R88 rowing machine has been discontinued, as have the remaining LifeCore rowers. Take a look at NordicTrack rowing machinesfor similar priced machines with great features and capabilities.

The Lifecore R100 commercial rowing machine features an aluminum frame, solid steel fan and flywheel, a patented silent drive system, adjustable cooling air vent, and a folding design that occupies just 16” x 24” of floor space.

It offers an ergonomically designed seat and rowing handle, and angled foot rests with pivoting heel supports. The maximum user weight for the Lifecore R100 rower is 600 lbs.

With 16 levels of resistance, that can actually be somewhat of an issue for beginners using an incorrect body form on a rowing machine.

You don’t have to use higher resistance on a rower since the machine is designed for cardiovascular conditioning sessions; i.e. 20 minutes of rowing cardio as compared to 2 minutes of strength training exercises on a seated cable row on a gym.

If you dial up the resistance too high, you could potentially injure your back or shoulders.

What We Say About the R100 Rower

The rower gets excellent reviews, even winning the Head of the Class award from Fitness Professor. It has superb quality and design, a solid warranty, and a space-saving folding feature.

But at $1,299, the Lifecore R100 commercial rowing machine is $400 more than the commercial air flywheel Concept2 D indoor rower, designed by rowers and considered by many rowing clubs to be the best off-water air flywheel trainer in the world.

Why buy the Lifecore R100 when you can have a Concept2 that lasts forever and costs just $900?
