NordicTrack RW700 Review -  New Mid-Level Machine

The NordicTrack RW700 is an all new model, joining the recently introduced RW600 and the top-of-the-line RW900 rowing machines. The RW700 takes the place of the previous mid-level model, the RW500.

With a roomy 14” Smart HD touchscreen display and 1-year NordicTrack iFit membership included in the purchase price, it provides a substantial combination of technology and functionality, making it one of the more desirable rowers on the market today.

Priced in the middle of the pack, the RW700 remains an affordable option as well, allowing it to fit in nicely with NordicTrack’s tradition of top quality at reasonable prices.

The Buzz

The NordicTrack RW700 is the second new release this year, along with the base model RW600.

Both are upgraded versions of the earlier models in the series, the popular RW200 and RW500.

The RW700 is the mid-range model, offering 26 resistance levels, and 1 year NordicTrack iFit membership along with a 14" Smart HD touchscreen.

That 14” screen makes a marked upgrade from the much smaller 10” version on the previous mid-range RW500, allowing you to follow along even easier with the variety of workouts available through the iFit membership.

The ability to tap into the iFit Coach programming and take advantage of  on-demand classes led by professional trainers and athletes is what makes NordicTrack’s products stand out from most rowers available today.

Another innovation is the Interactive Personal Training, which allows the RW700's resistance levels to be changed automatically by the trainers, so that you aren’t distracted making manual adjustments.

With NordicTrack’s unique technology you have the ability to do more than just row. You have access to a wide range of workouts including cross training, stretching and yoga, which can be done off the rower to provide a full workout for your body and mind.

The variety of the iFit Coach program doesn’t stop with the type of workouts. You can also choose from a wide range of locations, either in studio or anywhere in the world via Google maps. This is a key advantage of all of NordicTrack’s models, as it can help to keep up your interest, allowing you to get the most out of your workouts.

The 14” screen also makes it easy for you to keep tabs on all of your stats, so you can track your progress as you go.

(Note that the new RW600 rower has a 10" touch screen and the top-of-the-line RW900 rower has a 22" one)

The end result is a total exercise and health regimen that gives you the motivation you need to lose weight, tone up or meet any of your personal fitness goals.

The NordicTrack RW700 comes with an oversized steel seat rail and pedals, ergonomic molded seat, adjustable foot straps and soft touch ergonomic handles.  Like all of the NordicTrack models, it has front mounted wheels for easy transport and features the innovative SpaceSaver design that allows it fold up to a vertical position for convenient storage.

For a mid-range model it offers a surprisingly wide range of features and capabilities at a relatively affordable price.

How Does the RW700 Compare to Rest of the NordicTrack Rowers?

NordicTrack RW900 22" Display with iFit Coach

There are currently three NordicTrack rowing machines on the market: the RW600, RW700 and RW900.

All have the same basic design with a slight variation in footprint.  All are versatile, fold for easy storage and have quite a bit of functionality for the price.  That being said, there are some differences between the three that are worth looking at more closely.

Let's make a quick comparison of the NordicTrack rowers...

RW600

The base model comes with a 10” Smart HD Touchscreen, 26 digital resistance levels, 1 year of NordicTrack iFit membership, an auxiliary audio port, a 250 lb. user capacity and a 10 year frame warranty.

RW700

One step up is the mid-range model, which features a 14" Smart HD Touchscreen, 26 digital resistance levels, 1 year of NordicTrack iFit membership, an auxiliary music port, a 250 lb. user capacity and a 10 year frame warranty.

RW900

At the top of the line is the RW900, which gives you everything the RW700 has, plus a 22" Smart HD touch screen.

So when you compare the three, you can see that the overall look and feel of each is the same, with the same basic features including the seat, monorail, oversized pivoting pedals, adjustable foot straps and the SMR Silent Magnetic Resistance.

There is a subtle difference in footprint from one model to another but the main difference is the consoles, which range from a 10" to a 22" HD Smart touchscreen.

The prices range from about $999 for the base RW600 to about $1,599 for the top of the line RW900. The NordicTrack RW700 fits neatly in the middle with a price of $1,299. All three models now offer a 1 year iFit Membership as part of the price, making any of them an exceptional deal.

NordicTrack RW700 - Bottom Line

The new RW700 is a great addition to the NordicTrack lineup, with a roomy, easy to view 14” Smart HD touchscreen, a wide range of built in workouts and a reasonable price that won’t tax most budgets.

With access to NordicTrack’s iFit Coach programming, you’ve literally got the world at your fingertips. You can select from a wide variety of classes led by professional trainers both in studio and at locations throughout the world. With everything from cross-fit to HIIT, you can tailor your workout to give you the results you need and even take it off the rower for a more complete approach to fitness.

iFit Coach also provides nutrition, exercise and sleep recommendations that go beyond working out to help you start living a healthier lifestyle.

For a satisfying workout experience that can also save you a little money, the mid level RW700 is a great choice.

Any way you look at it, you can’t go wrong with NordicTrack rowers. They are all fun to use, packed with exciting features and capabilities you can’t get anywhere else and available at surprisingly affordable prices.
